An e-consultancy.com interview with Google’’s European Head of Web Analytics, Brian Clifton, says that the company has now cleared the backlog of applications for Google Analytics accounts which had meant that new registrations were strictly restricted.
You can register for an account here (although right now the page still asks you to submit your details to request an invitation - hopefully these invitations are now being issued straight away rather than after a lengthy wait). You can also keep up to date with news and developments via the Google Analytics blog.
So far, my experiences with Google Analytics have been very positive. It’s pretty easy to install and provides excellent data, giving you a high degree of control and flexibility compared to other free packages that I”ve used in the past. Being able to set up multiple users on one account also means that it’s easy to share website stats with people across an organisation.
Update 15 August 2006: The Google Analytics blog confirms that there’’s now instant access for new accounts.
