Clients
I work with public sector and non-profit organisations, including charities, thinktanks, campaigning organisations and public bodies. I’ve worked with many of my clients for several years but I always enjoy the challenge of starting a project with a brand new client.
Here’s a brief overview of some of the projects I’ve recently worked on.
CABE – the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment
As a member of CABE’s freelance writers and editors panel, I regularly produce content for the CABE website. Recent projects have included producing case study and publication summaries and developing the content for a good practice guide to green space apprenticeships.
NESTA
I’ve written and edited content for the NESTA website since 2007, producing case studies, opinion articles and research summaries on topics ranging from creative entrepreneurship to climate change and from education to collaborative innovation. Recent projects include:
- How to survive an economic downturn (PDF)
- Profiles of the Big Green Challenge finalists
- Thoughts from an Oscar winner.
“We’ve been nothing less than impressed with Joanna’s work. Her knack for writing compelling copy along with her careful attention to detail, flexibility and willingness to tackle challenging work has resulted in a strong working relationship, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone else. Joanna’s ability to quickly get her head around any brief and her cheerful personality mean that she’s always our first point of call for any copywriting work.” Michelle Millar, formerly Editor - Corporate Communications, NESTA
The Health Foundation
In 2009 I worked with The Health Foundation to migrate its data on quality and performance from a microsite to the organisation’s main website. I’ve also written content on patient safety campaigns around the UK.
Enterprise UK
I’ve worked with Enterprise UK – formerly known as Make Your Mark - since 2007, when I acted as interim web editor and helped recruit two new members of the web team. Since then I’ve undertaken a number of web content projects for the campaign, including writing case studies on inspiring entrepreneurs such as Alastair Mitchell and Andy McLoughlin of Huddle and the Buyacredit.com team.
“We’ve worked with Joanna on a variety of things and wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again. She is very clear and concise and I trust her implicitly to deliver results.” Hannah Bourne, formerly Communications Manager, Enterprise UK
KnowHow NonProfit
I worked with the KnowHow NonProfit team throughout 2009. I regularly edited and uploaded content for the site, as well as producing accessible transcripts of podcasts.
Engaging Places
I provided editorial and content management support for the Engaging Places website throughout 2009, editing content in line with house style guidelines and adding it to the website content management system.
National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services
I worked with the web team at the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children’s Services during a major website redevelopment project in 2009, writing new content on topics including sustainable schools and succession planning. I also produced publication summaries and edited case studies to fit the organisation’s new content guidelines.
